Workforce Resources

While CAN DO is not a training provider or employment agency, we can point you to local organizations that do a great job offering employment-related services.

Pennsylvania CareerLink

Pennsylvania CareerLink is a statewide cooperative effort to provide career services to job-seekers, cwda-careerlinkemployers, and other interested individuals. The Hazleton Career Link Office serves as a clearinghouse for available state-sponsored training programs available to assist local industry. This office represents a one-stop location where customers have ready access to all of the government agencies involved in administering job training assistance.

The Luzerne County Career Link Center has the capability to draw from applicants registered in neighboring Career Links and through partnerships with the employment and training providers in the area. Local Career Link Centers will process applications, recruit, screen, and test workers based upon the company’s specifications. This will be done with no obligation to interview or hire any candidate who completes the screening and testing process. These services will be provided at no cost to the company.

The Luzerne County Career Link Centers will:

  • Perform eligibility screening for tax incentives and employer training subsidy programs. A number of grants are available to assist in identifying training needs and develop training solutions for employers. These include On the Job training grants, (OJT is provided through a contract to provide occupational training for dislocated workers in exchange for the reimbursement of up to 50% of the employer’s wage rate), subsidized employment (work in which all or a portion of the wages paid to the employer as a reimbursement of the extra costs of training or as an incentive to hire.), and incumbent worker training grants.
  • The Luzerne County Career Link Center will provide office conference facilities for the employer’s use in conducting interviews with prospective candidates. This “in-kind” contribution would include free interview space, off-street parking and toll-free telephone, fax, and photocopying services, as well as associated clerical support
  • Registering the company and posting job openings on Pennsylvania's internet-based website.
  • Receive, categorize, and coordinate all job applications;
  • Pre-screen candidates based on specifications provided by employer.
  • Provide professional interviewers to test, screen, and interview applicants for all positions. The Luzerne county Career Link Centers may also administer tests designed by the company to applicants
  • Help select workers using the work Keys Assessment Testing – this is an online assessment tool. Individuals are given practical, work related questions that gauge their current abilities in three critical areas: reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, and Locating Information.
